July 12-13, 2024
For many years (ask my family or colleagues) I’ve talked about travelling in an Airstream Travel Trailer. Even wanting to go full time in a 23 or 25 foot trailer. Well, it’s not going to be full time but I finally bought a 23 foot Airstream, spent the winter getting it ready and making reservations, and now I’m off.
I plan to add posts detailing the modifications (or hacks) I’ve done to make the Airstream work for me. I also want to add a page detailing the route, campgrounds, and some of the costs. But the main point of this blog is to post pictures that entertain and that I can look back on months or years from now.
So here goes, I’m planning about 3 months on a circuitous route taking me from Florida to Pennsylvania (via Kentucky – we need Bourbon) then on to Wyoming (via Erie,PA and Decorah, IA – home of Toppling Goliath, we like beer too) then let’s explore at the Tetons in Wyoming and the Rockies in Colorado. At that point I’ll be itching to get home or I’ll meander a bit more.
But, until today, I have never spent a night in an RV. First stop then is a local KOA for two nights to learn the art of dumping black tanks, etc. And so about 7 miles later I checked in to site 517 at KOA Holiday (St Petersburg / Madeira Beach).
And here I am all parked and ready.
The next morning I took a long walk along the Pinellas Trail and encountered this strange duck – identifed by google lens as a Muscovy Duck aka wart duck.
And here’s a view of my office …
My friend Phyllis (also new to RVing stopped by for a night) but I failed to get picture of us and her two pugs. Next up we move to Manatee Springs State Park.
