Summer 2024
First ever RV trip for me. Here are some numbers …
93 nights camping – National Park 7 nights, National Forest 10 nights, State Park 29 nights, City/County Park 4 nights, Corp of Engineer 6 nights, “resort” 15 nights, storage (stayed with family) 3 nights, KOA 17 nights.
32 different Campgrounds – cheapest Fremont Lake National Forest at $9.50/night, most expensive Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Resort at $125/night.
16 states – FL, GA, TN, KY, WV, PA, OH, IN, IL, IA, NE, WY, CO, KS, MO, AL and back to FL
3 National Parks – Cuyahoga Valley, Grand Teton, Rocky Mountain
8,064 total miles – 5,168 towing, 2,896 just driving around seeing things
548 gallons of Diesel, 12.5 gallons of Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF)
I’ll say I’m glad I jumped in and set out for three months. The first several weeks were somewhat high anxiety every time I moved – hooking up trailer, towing, getting fuel, backing up, un-hooking trailer, etc. I think if I had gone for a weekend trip I would have thought this is horrible and probably stuck to hotels. But, after those first high anxiety weeks it all came together.
Winter 2026
Spent a week in South Florida.
6 nights camping – Everglades National Park
3 National Parks – Everglades, Biscayne, Dry Tortugas
1,480 total miles – 602 towing, 879 driving around
58 gallons of Diesel, 2.5 gallons Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF)
